Over the last few years creativity in all its forms has been unleashed thanks in no small part to technology, this website is a celebration of that fact. Expect me to waffle on about pretty much anything that might, however tenuously, be linked to art and design.

Revenge of the Sith!

I chickened out the other day, I said that there wasn't much point in writing a 'Sith' review. The truth was that I simply couldn't! Trying to write a review of 'Revenge of the Sith' is like trying to describe what the word 'fluffy' means to someone who has no sense of touch or describing the colour 'light brown' to someone who cannot see, it's astonishingly difficult! Why? Because 'Sith' is a film you 'feel about' rather than 'think about'. As Lucas has pointed out time and time again this is the whole premise of the saga, a kind of fantasy opera if you will, but it wasn't until the credits rolled on this last installment that I really understood what he meant. In short, Lucas can pretty much forget about having to create awesome dialogue because he knows that John Williams has it covered. The music of the Star Wars saga is easily the most important single aspect of the story, it surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the Star Wars galaxy together! 'Revenge of the Sith' is a film that is understood by the heart not the mind. 'Sith' IS the best Star Wars film of that I'm sure. Not the most fun or even the most polished, 'A New Hope' and 'Empire' take those accolades, but the best--the film that defines the whole saga.

On this day last year . . .

I took this photo.

Flame, how it burns . . .

Muito coolness! I found my very first digital video production today, I think it's well over 10 years old! I shot it on my old Performa 5200 with the original Connectix Quickcam.

Podcasting Shmodcasting!

"Podcasts have become popular because anyone with a microphone, computer, software and a net connection, can produce one themselves." Oh dear . . . This does not sound good, I can imagine all shorts of drivel being published (much like the Web!).
Actually I shouldn't be too quick to dismiss Podcasting, I listened to a couple of shows recently whilst decorating, and I have to say they were extremely interesting and quite professionally produced. The best thing about the whole Podcasting experience has to be the ease of it all, using iPodder for the Mac I was able to get these Podcasts off the net and onto my iPod in minutes.

Mobile Phone Photography -- Part 2

My Nokia 6630 is now my only still camera. Yeah yeah it’s 1.3MP and the lens is tiny but you know what? I don’t really care. Photoshop gives me the power to fix some of the problems and circumvent many of the others. The picture above is just as good as any I've taken with the Nikon 5MP camera. I always have my phone with me, hence I always have my camera with me. Phones of 2006 will surely complete the transition. Will the iPod be the next device to be consumed by the phone? It's looks as if T.V. will be by the end of this year!

Episode 3 is No.1

Anakin's tears . . . There seems little point in writing a review, I have a hunch that this is going to become one of the most talked about films of all time!

"Skywalker Ranch, is just down there mate."

Well here we are, the 19th of May 2005. The last Star Wars film ever is released today. Inspirational, thats the only way I can really describe the saga. How gratifying for George to see this wonderful body of creative work come to such a satisfying completion. Make no mistake, his films ARE a work of art, there are many frames from the series that rival the classic paintings of old. Take Cloud City for instance - the world of the eternal sunset, what a spectacle!

Just wanted to be the first . . .

. . . to mention this; Sony are now using the Spider-Man movie font for the logo of the PS3, pretty good idea, makes a nice connection.

PS3

Now this is more like it. Never mind the technical specs (for now), check out the look of this new PS3! First the lovely rich black PSP and now this, looks like Apple have some industrial design competition after all. I hadn't got around to blogging about the nauseous design of the XBOX 360, needless to say it's childlike in comparison to this.

In 4 Days Time . . .

Almost there! Today I purchased the tickets. There's a great buzz surrounding this final film, it seems that nobody wants to miss the cinematic event of the decade!!! :)

The 'Created' Life!

Congratulations Phil and Jenny . . . Welcome Harriett!

Chris Tucker School of Language!

After watching Rush Hour 2 again, I intend to do Portuguese the way that Chris Tucker does Chinese! Just say as much as I can remember (i.e. not much) and make the rest up!

Mini. A Design Classic!

Look at it! What a truly great car and what lovely design. Yes the new Mini is a nice looking car, but does it compare to the looks of the original? Nah. Louise's little blue Mini was one of my favourite cars, it was really easy to drive and surprisingly practical.

Great Smells!

The smell of summer is in the air! It's the smell of life, the smell of green.

Grrrrr!

Still no iSync support for the Nokia 6630! I thing it has something to do with the 6630 not being launched in the US. There must be a work-around . . .

The Tiger Review.

Instead of one huge Mac OS 10.4 review, I have decided to break it down into chunks over the next three or four weeks. So here is the first . . . Dashboard! At first I thought, yeah yeah, whatever! But now I have downloaded some really useful widgets like the UK Trains, Dash Blog, Transit and Wikipedia widgets, I am starting to see how important Dashboard really is. I think the whole Dasboard thing might be a kind of sneak preview of the first web-only PC, a computer that has no OS, no HD, no DVD, just a CPU and web connection. Now if only they could get Dashboard running on some future video iPod, now that would be really cool.

Widget Blog!

My first blog post from a 10.4 Tiger, Dashboard Widget. The Widget is called Dash Blog, it takes about 10 seconds to download and set-up, and around another 10 seconds to post your entry — Amazing! I don’t think it will allow me to add pictures though. :(
